What Managed IT Services Cost

Managed IT is normally priced per user per month, sometimes per device. The figures below come only from providers who publish a rate; we do not estimate on behalf of those who do not. Across the 221 providers listed, 11 publish a rate, and those run $60–$300 per seat per month. Treat that as a floor: providers who quote by scope are frequently more expensive, not less.

What it would cost for your headcount

This multiplies your seat count by the rates providers actually publish. It does not estimate. Of the 222 providers we publish, 211 do not disclose a rate at all, so read this as the range among the 11 who do — not as the market.

What moves the price

Coverage window

Round-the-clock cover typically adds 20–40% over business-hours support, because it requires staffing rather than software.

Compliance scope

HIPAA or SOC 2 obligations add documentation, evidence collection, and audit support that generic managed IT does not include.

Site count

Multiple offices raise the price less than most buyers expect for remote work, and more than expected where physical hardware is involved.

Existing estate

Unpatched, undocumented environments cost more to take on. Some providers charge a remediation project before the recurring fee starts.

Common questions

Why do so many providers refuse to publish pricing?

Because per-seat pricing only works when scope is standard, and for many providers it is not. A published rate invites comparison against a number that may not describe the same service. That is a defensible position, but it does shift the work of comparison onto you.

Is per-user or per-device better?

Per-user is usually cheaper for companies where staff have one machine each, and worse for environments with many shared or unattended devices — warehouses, kiosks, labs. Count both before comparing quotes.

What is normally excluded?

Hardware, software licences, major projects, and after-hours work outside the contracted window. The recurring fee covers running the estate, not changing it.
